Elementary School and Cheese!

Today we went to the Elementary school where we talked to children ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade. After introducing ourselves, we answered a range of funny questions from the kids about all sorts of things ranging from how we say fruit names, to cats and sharks. We joined them for lunch (chicken nuggets) and then headed into town to the local cheese factory called Hooks. We learnt about how the cheese is made, as Wisconsin is known as the Dairy State of America. We have now finished at 1 o'clock, ready to start the weekend early with our hosts.

Middle School & Gundry House

Yesterday some of the middle school kids came up to the High School library, and we had to introduce ourselves and give a short PowerPoint about Cornwall. We compared different items which we have different names for, and then answered questions that the middle school kids had for us. After lunch, we headed into town to visit Gundry house, where we got a private tour with a sweet lady called Bertie. Then we went to the public library where we looked into the genealogy of our own families, friends and host families. We had a quick look around some of the artsy shops and galleries, before heading home, ready to go to the Cuba City volley ball game where unfortunately, our 'Cornish luck' had ran out.

Madison and Pot Luck Supper

Today we visited the Wisconsin State Capitol Building, starting with the observation deck which we believe was 90 feet high with a great view of Madison, and a tour of the building. After a quick shop, we headed to Ian's for a pizza lunch. In the afternoon, we visited the Henry Vilas Zoo, and on the way home there was a quick blizzard of snow! In the evening, we had a Pot Luck supper at the congregational church, during which we all had to introduce ourselves to all the host families and other important people who had helped during the trip. This made us nervous but it was nice to see everyone!
